A two-player camp plan for 99 Nights in the Forest
Give each player a clear job for the first daylight trip. One short-range fuel run and one scout who can find the way back are easier to coordinate than two people searching the same trees.

Choose the meeting point
Practice a short return
Start together at the fire. Each person walks a short distance out and turns back, noticing what camp looks like from their approach. Agree to regroup at the fire even if one of you spots a more interesting destination.
Divide the first trip
Keep the tasks small
Let one player gather nearby fuel while the other checks one direction for landmarks. The scout should return with a specific route description, such as following the trees on one side of camp. A useful report includes how to get back as well as what to visit.
Swap roles on the next trip
Build a shared mental map
After the first return, let the scout handle camp while the other player follows the reported route. If the directions are too vague to follow, shorten the trip and choose a stronger landmark. This gives both players a route home if they get separated later.
Questions and answers
Can we use this plan without voice chat?
Yes. Agree on a meeting point and one short trip per person before you set off.
What if the scout is late?
Keep the campsite supplied while you wait. Avoid having both players independently search in different directions.
